Cancer survivor wins silver medal

Imphal, March 31 2012:
Former Principal of DM College of Commerce, Samurailatpam Sanahanbi Devi, a cancer survivor has won the silver medal in 800m and 1500m 80-year plus category at the recently held 33rd National Masters Athletic Championship in Bengaluru.
The sports committee in Manipur had earlier rejected her application due to her health status but finally had to give in after she came first at the selection run in Imphal.

Before being diagnosed with colon cancer, Sanahanbi Devi won gold medal in the 21 km half marathon at the Asian Veteran Sports Championship held in China.
She also came fourth in 41km full marathon held at the World Veteran Championship at Brisbane, Australia.
