RK Madhuryajit's statue to be installed

Imphal, February 28 2018: Manipur Olympic Association today announced that a half size statue in honour of founder member and life president of Manipur Olympic Association RK Madhuryajit would be installed.

This was stated by Sunil Elangbam, secretary of Manipur Olympic Association (MOA) in a press meet held at conference hall of the association.

The office bearers of MOA lauded the contribution of RK Madhuryajit in developing Olympic movement in the state and worked for sports infrastructure development.

RK Madhuryajit also played a key role in organising 5th National Games in Imphal, they added.

The association have decided to install his statue to honour contribution at the garden of the association. A construction committee has been formed in this regard and the chairman of this committee, Th Jokumar, retd Chief Engineer and vice president MOA stated that the estimated cost of construction will be around Rs 6,00,00 .

The committee further said that the association has Rs 2,00,00 reserved for the construction and the remaining cost would be derived from sports enthusiasts and other sponsorers in the form of donations.

The construction of the statue will be done by renowned sculpture S Nimai from Yumnam Leikai.

The association also appealed all to contribute and support in honouring the legend of the State on the occasion.
