New Year greetings pour in

Youth Affairs and Sports (YAS) Director W Bhaktaraj, Manipur Olympic Association (MOA) secretary Sunil Elangbam, All Manipur F ootball Association (AMFA) president P Raghumani and AFC instructor S Akendra have extended New Year greetings to State athletes and footballers.
Speaking to The Sangai Express YAS Director W Bhaktaraj said that, the year 2015 witnessed good developments and wished the players that the coming year 2016 may bring better performances in their respective disciplines.
He added that the State athletes shone at the State and National competitions conducted under Rajiv Gandhi Khel Abhiyan (RGKA) scheme as well as indidigenous games which was part of the Sangai Festival.
State athletes also did commend-ably well at the National School Games, he added.
MOA secretary Sunil Elangbam felt that the year
2015 is a mixed bag but he pinned hope that 2016 will develop the players of Manipur.
It may be mentioned that comparing to the previous National Games Manipur got the lowest medal tally in the 2015 National Games which was held at Kerala.
"Participating in only 20 disciplines out of 35 in the National Games was very unfortunate", said Sunil Elangbam.
AMFA president P Raghumani called 2015 "a successful year" for the State football teams and wished the State footballers and other athletes to perform better in 2016 .
"Winning age group tournaments and Dr T Ao Football title is a huge success for the State football teams", said P Raghumani.
Extending new year greetings, S Akendra a former State footballer and currently a referee who is an AFC instructor said, "you will be successful only if you work hard with a will" .
