Raksha Bandhan celebrated

Raksha Bandhan or Rakhi is celebrated on a full moon day in the month of Shawan (August) according to the Hindu calendar.
It is the day when brothers and sisters reaffirm their affectionate bond "Raksha" meaning protection and "Bandhan" meaning binding or bound.
On this day, sisters tie a sacred threads or a colourful special band, rightly called "Rakhi on the brothers" writs as a mark of affection, sisterly love and sublime sentiments.
The brothers in return promise to protect their sisters andoffer them gifts.
A soldier is abrotherto citizens all the year around.
Celebrating this spirit of patriotism on August 26, women of village Shaibol tied sacred thread to Tengnoupal Battalion personnel in Shaibol and expressed their gratitude to soldiers for their Raksha with the Bandhan.
The function culminated with healthy discussion on various other issues of the village over tea and refreshments served by Assam Rifles.
