Tengnoupal, May 26 2018: An awareness programme on "Effects of illegal poppy cultivation and its remedies" was held at Tollen Village in Tengnoupal Saturday.

Vice president of Haokip People's Council Thangmang Haokip, general secretary Telngoh Phungpi Machalna, Manipur Ngulthang Haokip and District Forest Officer (Soil and Water Conservation) Division-II Robert Sheilam Haokip attended the programme as presidium members.

Robert Sheilam Haokip urged the villagers/farmers to grow cash crops, fruits and vegetables.

Poppy plantation is against law, he said explaining the other income earning plantations.
