Source: Chronicle News Service
Imphal, April 23 2022:
Street vendors of Khwairamband market and its surrounding areas jointly staged a protest demonstration on Saturday afternoon, demanding they be allowed to sell their wares/products in the market.
During the protest, the vendors conveyed that they are working hard to feed their families and as such, demanded the government to respect their right to life and live.
Later, a team of Imphal West District Police tried to chase away the protesters, leading to a brief standoff between the police and the street vendors.
The police, however, managed to take control of the situation, thereby preventing any further problem.
