Imphal, November 22 2011: HN Bahugana Garhwal University, Srinagar Garhwal, Uttarakhand has conferred degree of Philosophy to Lairenjam Babita Chanu for her thesis entitled "The Status of Meitei Women: A Study of the changing status of women in Meitei society of Manipur" .

Babita completed her thesis under the supervision of Dr.Asha Sisodia.

She is the youngest daughter of L Bonod and Sanatombi Devi of Sagolband Bijoy-govinda Lairenjam Leirak, Imphal West.

Babita is currently a teacher in a private institution in Dehradun.
