Ukhrul, August 19 2015: Halang Aze village headman HL Chinaoyo and secretary Unison have been arrested by Ukhrul police in connection with the murder of Abner Varah, chairman of Huining Ato village from Ukhrul Phungreitang yesterday, reports our Correspondent.

Mention may be made, the two villages have been on an age long land dispute.

Recently on August 5, villagers of Halang Aze allegedly demolished the monument erected in the name of late Abner.

On the same day, during the observation of Huining Ato Shanao Long Raising Day, a clash erupted between the two villages.

Following the violence, the District Magistrate had clamped 144 CrPC in both the villages for many days.

Halang village headman and secretary were produced before CJM Court of Ukhrul today.

They have been remanded to six days police custody for further investigation into the case.
