Former minister Haokholen Thangjom passes away

Imphal, June 18 2011: Haokholen Thangjom, former member of the Manipur Legislative Assembly expired today, around 8.30 am at his residence at Old Lambulane.

He was 85 .

Haokholen was elected as Congress nominee to Manipur Legislative Assembly in 1972 and was the government chief whip of then government.

In 1974, he became minister for health and family welfare, food and civil supply, veterinary and animal husbandry and cooperation.

He was a member of the Resumption of Assam-Mizo Peace Talk and also took a major took in the effort to bring a solution to the Kuki-Zomi conflict.
