Imphal, January 15 2019:
A Cabinet meeting held this evening with Chief Minister N Biren in the chair gave consent to establishment of Manipur State Population Commission.
Apart from creating a data base of the State's different communities, the State population commission would work to find out the number of non-local people settled in the State and also the growth of non-local population.
The Cabinet meeting also resolved to implement the 10 per cent reservation for poor households belonging to general category whose annual income is Rs 8 lakh or lesser with effect from today.
Notably, the new reservation Bill was passed by the Parliament a few days back.
