Imphal, November 10 2014: Even as Myanmar and Thailand officials have been invited to the Manipur Sangai Festival which kicks off on November 21, no trade delegates have been invited.

Well placed sources informed that the State Government has invited Thailand and Myanmar officials to the festival with due permission of the Ministry of External Affairs.

In the preceding Sangai festivals, trade delegates of the two countries were also invited.

This year too, around 70 trade delegates of Myanmar are keen to take part in the annual festival which would go on till November 30.However, as the State Government has not sent any official invitation, due process for travelling to Manipur could not be initiated.

The number of stalls has also been reduced to 500 this year as compared to last year's 700 .
