WY tablets worth Rs 2 crore seized

As part of security measures in the run-up to Independence Day, 12 Assam Rifles posted at Khudengthabi conducted frisking and checking of vehicles plying along Imphal-Moreh road and seized about 69,800 WY tablets contraband worth about Rs 2 crore and 9 lakh from the possession of one person driving an Alto Car which was heading to Imphal at around 12 noon today.
The person was identified as Md Asgar Ali (34) s/o (L) Md Nasib Ali of Lilong Haoreibi Awang Leikai, Thoubal District.
Earlier, 12 AR also seized about 30,000 WY tablets worth Rs 90 lakh at Khudengthabi checkpoint from the possesion of two persons while they were conducting checking of vehicles along Imphal Moreh road.
They have been identified as Th Chandra Lamkang (52) and his wife Th Shanti Lamkang (49) of Larong Khunou village, Cdl district.
