Imphal, June 03 2019: The Manipur Information Commission (MIC) has directed the Tribal Affairs and Hills Additional Chief Secretary/ Commissioner to appoint one ASPIO for each and every village authority under the Manipur Village Authorities in Hill Areas Act 1956.The MIC issued the particular directive on May 27 after perusing a complaint filed by one Ch Comecius under the RTI Act seeking reasons for banishing him from Machi village by the village authority.

The directive issued by the MIC asked the Chief Secretary/Commissioner, Tribal Affairs and Hills to designate one official as Assistant State Public Information Officer (ASPIO) for each arid every village authority through the respective Deputy Commissioners.

The order issued on May 27 also directed the Tengnoupal DC to carry out an enquiry and find whether the Machi Village Authority Chairman misused his authority during the Machi village general assembly.
