Imphal, June 03 2015 : Following revocation of Armed Forces Special Power Act (AFSPA) in Tripura, civil organisations have strengthened and renewed their demands on AFSPA revocation.

The Sharmila Kanba Lup (SAKAL) today staged a sit-in-protest at SAKAL complex, Porompat demanding removal of AFSPA from the State.

SAKAL convenor S Momon said that the Act has done more harm than good for people of the State during its 60 and above years of imposition.

Welcoming the decision of the Tripura Cabinet, the organisation asserted that the Government should have no problems in revoking AFSPA from the State too.

The organisation has warned of intensifying its protests until the Act is repealed.
