Imphal, January 02 2014: Hoping that the new year will usher peace and development in Manipur, Rajya Sabha MP Dr Rishang Keishing said peace built on the foundation of love can overcome all obstacles.

Speaking at the New Year's day celebration programme at MBC Centre Church yesterday morning, Dr Keishing said in a multi-ethnic State like Manipur only love can promote peace.

Regretting that peace continues to elude the people of Manipur along with stating that crime against women and children remains a strong challenge, the MP expressed that in case people have faith upon the almighty then peace and development would naturally follow.

As part of the celebration, Dr W Konghar delivered lecture on 'A New Year with a new vision and hope' .
