Imphal, August 31 2011: A personnel of the 37th AR posted near the Khuman Lampak complex shot himself with his AK 47 service rifle this morning and he died on the spot.

The deceased has been identified as one Bijen Kumar (38) from Jammu and Kashmir.

The body of the deceased has been taken to the RIMS morgue for post mortem and was later handed over to the post commander of the 37th AR.

The reason for taking the extreme step by Bijen Kumar of the 37th Assam Rifles was yet to be ascertained, sources said.
