Union seeks pension scheme for construction workers

Imphal, June 30 2021:
Loyalam Construction Workers Welfare Union has urged the state government to introduce a pension scheme for construction workers who are over 60 years of age.
In a release, Loyalam Construction Workers' Welfare Union stated that in their old age construction workers do not receive any social benefits even after lifetime of work and during this pandemic period the construction workers have been in dire conditions.
Considering the situation, the Union in its meeting decided to press the government for constituting a pension scheme for construction workers who are over the age of 60 years, it said.
