Imphal, October 27 2015: Zeliangrong Union (AMN) has rejected the 'referendum' of ZYF held to decide the name of Zeliangrong apex body - ZB or ZU- on Aug 29 at Longmai.

In a statement, K Poushinglung, executive secretary of ZU (AMN) said that the ZYF is not the competent authority to conduct the referendum on the issue.

It accused the ZYF of trying to tarnish the image of ZU (AMN), a legitimate apex body of Zeliangrongs established by their forefathers on Jan 15, 1925.It said ZB is an organisation formed by dissident group on July 30, 2010 at Peren, Nagaland.

ZU (AMN) and ZB (AMN) are the sole authorities to decide on the issue of adopting a name for the apex body, it said while appealing the Zeliangrongs not to cooperate and accept the misadventure of ZYF in this regard.
