Imphal, September 25 2012: Local population of N Siphai, N Khullen, N Pokpi, Nungadang, N Khunou, Keinou, Yumnam Khunou and Irengbam villages of Bishnupur district joined hands with the troops of Red Shield Division today to clear all shrubs on either side of NH 2 in between Oinam and Bishnupur to obviate planting of Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) by insurgent groups, informed a PIB (DW) release.

Expressing that the campaign is a clear signal to all insurgent outfits that it is time for peace and tranquillity in the state and not mindless violence, the Defence Wing release further stated that "this voluntary activity attracted maximum people of all villages which lie in between the above mentioned areas.

Approximately 250 men, women and children came out in the morning to show their solidarity with the security forces and faith in the path that shuns the various acts of terror perpetrated by the various insurgent groups.
