ZU questions lapse of BRGF

Imphal, August 16 2013 : Zeliangrong Union (Tamei Zone) has urged the concerned authorities, Govt of Manipur to give the reason for the lapse of Backward Region Grant Fund (BRGF) for the year 2012-13 meant for Tamenglong district - the most neglected district in Manipur.

According to a press release of the ZU, while the people of Tamenglong district is facing lack of infrastructural development in the district, lapse of centrally sponsored schemes like BRGF, MSDP is not only a big lost for the backward/struggling district, but also an insult to the people of the district.

Further more, many development packages especially given for Tamenglong have been misused by corrupt officials and irresponsible representatives of the district in the past few years resulting in the present state of the district without any mark of development/improvement, the release added.

It warned that if necessary steps are not done to classify the lapse of BRGF for Tamenglong district at the earliest, ZU along with like-minded parties will launch various forms of agitations which will include to expose the people behind the lapse of the fund.
