Imphal, December 13 2019: Tulihal Battalion of 9 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) organised Sawachhta Pakhwada today.

With an aim to sensitise the local populace about the importance of clean and healthy environment, Nambol Company Operating Base (pOB) organised the cleanliness drive under the "Swachh Bharat Mission" at Maibam Loptaching village, said a statement of PRO IGAR (South) .

The event commenced with an interactive lecture on Swachh Bharat Mission followed by a cleanliness drive by the troops and locals of the area.

In addition, an awareness rally was also organised by the locals to maintain clean and green environment.

During the event, locals of the area were also enlightened on health, lifestyle diseases and issues such as obesity, diabetes and various heart related diseases, said AR.

Mayang Imphal COB also organised an interactive lecture on cleanliness for the locals and students of Khelakhong village followed by a cleanliness drive with the villagers.

The locals were informed on global warming, its harmful effects and benefits of tree plantation, said AR.

The locals expressed gratitude to Assam Rifles for sustained efforts to sensitise the masses on such an important issue of healthy and clean environment.

They further requested more such events in future, added AR.
