Imphal, July 13 2016: Saranamai Village Authority Council organized a tree plantation drive at the village and it was participated by ADC Member Maikho Alexander, Col Dipankar Basu of 35 Assam Rifles, Maram and the village chairman today, our correspondent reports.

According to the Village Authority Council, approximately 6000 peach fruit saplings were planted during the drive.

Col.Dipankar Basu donated saplings to the villagers for the plantation drive.

He said that the 35 Assam Rifles are ever ready to help the villagers.

ADC Member, Maikho Alexander encouraged the villagers to preserve trees for the benefit of the future generations.

He encouraged the villagers to plant varieties of trees to maintain the ecology.

Around 500 villagers participated in the plantation drive.

In the meantime, the Saranamai Village Council and the ADC Members have strongly condemned the bomb attack at DC Office, Senapati on July 10 .
