Imphal, October 12 2017: 4 Assam Regiment of 26 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (South) organised 'Hunters Conclave', an interactive forum yesterday to establish dialogue with hunters in all the Company Operating Bases in order to address security related concerns of the locals in the operationally sensitive Indo-Myanmar Border region of Chandel district .

According to a press release of PRO IGAR (S), located in the remotest corner of Chandel district, locals in the unit area of responsibility depend primarily on hunting in order to meet their financial and eating needs.

However, presence of multiple hunters in the vicinity along with likely presence of own troops operating in the area may prove to be a dangerous and risky proposition.

Moreover improper handling of firearms by locals can also yield to unfavorable incidents.

Keeping all this in view, the forward Company Operating Bases invited the local hunters and discussed the importance of maintaining high state of alertness and prior know how to security forces regarding movement of hunters with firearms so as to avoid any incident of mistaken identity, it said.
