Training programme begins

Imphal, August 04 2015:
A ten-day training programme on "Climate Change: Approaches and Strategies for Mitigation and Sustainable Agriculture" was inaugurated at ICAR Research Complex, Lamphelpat yesterday.
The inaugural session of the programme was attended by K Kipgen, Director, Horticulture and Soil Conservation, Govt of Manipur as the chief guest, Dr SK Das, Principal Scientist, Fisheries Science, ICAR Barapani as guest of honour and Dr N Prakash, Joint Director ICAR Manipur Centre as the president, according to a statement.

The training course was organized by Dr Lohit Kumar Baishya, Senior Scientist Agronomy, Dr Kh Rishikanta Singh, Scientist Agricultural Economics and Dr MR Sahoo Senior Scientist Horticulture of ICAR Manipur Centre with financial assistance and technical support from NICRA.
Altogether, 27 trainees from various institutions like CAU, KVKs, ATMA, SKN Agriculture University, Jobner (Rajasthan) attended the short course.
The present training programme is designed to train the agricultural professionals on various mitigate strategies for crop and livestock production with special reference to location specific climate change scenario.
