Bishnupur, February 04 2025: Irate women of Ningthoukhong took to the streets on Tuesday morning, briefly blocking the Tiddim Road stretch at Ningthoukhong Bazar.

The protest was sparked by the arrest of a village volunteer (VV) by a combined team, including the Manipur police, from Ningthoukhong Mayai Leikai Ward No 2 around 5:30 am.

Upon receiving news of the blockade, Bishnupur superintendent of police (SP), additional SP, OC and women police personnel arrived at the scene to prevent any escalation.

After discussions between the protesting women and the SP, an understanding was reached, and the blockade subsequently lifted.
