Imphal, January 02 2014: Script cam-paigner Meelal will observe the 8th death anniversary of its former president Chingsubam Akaba on January 13 at Wakha village of Nongmaijing Ching (Baruni hill range), where the mortal remains of Akaba were laid to rest.

As part of the anniversary observance Pichung Anal of Chandel and Thokpam Tha-wailemba of Keishamthong would be presented cash prizes in recognition of their contribution towards promotion of Meetei Mayek, said MEELAL president S Tomba Mangang at a news conference today.

Joining the media briefing, MEELAL vice president Nao-dalen Khomba appealed to every section of the society to abstain from imposing bandh or general strike on January 13 to ensure smooth conduct of the anniversary function.
