Chandel, June 27 2018: Regarding a news item on border pillar published in The Sangai Express (English Edition) on June 26, the Mengkang Village Authority and Moyon Naga Council (BAP) in a joint statement today asserted that Haolenphai village is an "illegal village that falls under/within the jurisdiction of Mengkang (Moyon) village" .

The present International border pillar at Haolenphai 'must' be read as Mengkang village, as Mengkang village is the 'rightful' land owner since time 'immemorial', said the statement.

The Mengkang Village (Moyon) Authority and the Moyon Naga Council strongly condemned the action of the Government of Manipur and Government of India with regard to installation of border pillar without the knowledge of the land-owner-Mengkang village, said the statement.
