Imphal, May 25 2021:
With a dual aim of utilising the abundant supply of bamboos in the North East region and harnessing the skills of the locals, the Assam Rifles has installed a Bamboo Processing Unit and Skill Development Centre at its Laitkor Garrision, Meghalaya.
In a release, Assam Rifles informed that the Centre has been inaugurated by Director General Lt Gen Sukh-deep Sangwan on Monday.
The Centre would not only promote local skills, but will also provide an employment opportunity for both Assam Rifles personnel and locals of Nongkrem, Meghalaya thereby promoting the 'Make in India Initiative', it added.
