Chandel, September 24 2017: The Naga Chief Association and Kuki Chief Association held a meeting at Zion village authority office on September 22 and have decided to call a complete 48 hours total bandh of Chandel district from the midnight of September 25 to the midnight of September 27 .

A press release issued by the Naga Chiefs Association Chandel (NCAC) stated that the decision has been taken as protest against the misappropriation of MGNREGS wages of the year 2016-17 1st phase by the State Government and the failure to take up any concrete action regarding the memorandum submitted to the Chief Minister through the Deputy Commissioner, Chandel on September 14 during a sit in protest .

It also urged all the concerned associations and the people to co-operate and close all business establishment like shops hotels, transport services and private traffic .

However electricity, PHED, medical religious service, military forces and schools will be exempted from the bandh, it further added.
