Imphal, April 23 2013: Regarding the ongoing "total bandh" along the National Highway 2 and NH-37 imposed by ZYF, AZSU and ZSUM since last midnight, ZSUM has maintained that the bandh has been compelled to be imposed.

"People are fully aware of the hardship and difficulties to be faced during imposition of bandh on National Highways but having no option, the bandh has been compelled in order to register public protest against the irresponsible government and the adamant arm insurgent RPF/PLA.

Had there been government's intervention and RPF/PLA's timely response on genuine demand of the people, then ongoing total bandh could have been averted," ZSUM said in a statement.
