Imphal, January 15 2022: Meetei Christian Churches Council, Manipur (MCCCM) has appealed the Election Commission of India to conduct the first phase of Manipur General election on any other day other than Sunday.

In a statement issued today, MCCCM said as February 27 falls on Sunday and as it is a day for worship for Christian community, it is the earnest appeal of all the Christian people in the State to ECI to prepone or postpone the day of the election.

Meetei Christian Churches Council, Manipur also informed that a blessing seeking ceremony will be held on January 28 at the Church of God, Heinoubok to ensure that the upcoming 12th State Legislative Assembly election to be held in a free and fair manner.
