Imphal, October 12 2017: All Tribal Contractors’ Association, Manipur (ATCAM), during its consultative meeting on October 3, has condemned the decision of the State Government to scrap the concessional provision of 50 per cent deposit of the standard amount of security/earnest money fixed for the purpose of any contract work, under the preferential treatment to SC/ST, in view of the comparative economic backwardness of the community .

A press release issued by secretary of ATCAM stated that the former State Government had coerced SC/ST to deposit at par with the general category without any reason.

The association has urged the Government to revive the said concessional system as per mandatory provision, it added .

It further decried that none of the liabilities were released since 2000 to the hill districts of Manipur.

The association is set to resort many democratic form of agitation if the State Government fails to hear the demand of the association, it asserted.
