Imphal, October 08 2024:
Denouncing inclusion of 'Kuki Rising Day' alongside Mera Houchongba, a traditional festival celebrated on October 17, in the calendar published by DIPR, Kangleipak Kanba Lup (KKL) burnt copies of the calendar as a mark of protest on Tuesday.
According to KKL media co-ordinator Dhiraj Hamom, its members went to the DIPR office and had talks with the officials, who explained that Kuki Rising Day has been enlisted in the DIPR calendar based on the gazette notification issued by the government of Manipur.
Speaking to the media, the coordinator urged authorities concerned to rectify the mistake.
