AR distributes sewing, weaving machines

Imphal, November 30 2019:
As part of the ongoing efforts to provide basic amenities to the locals from remote areas, Tulihal Battalion of 9 Sector Assam Rifles, under the aegis of HQ IGAR (S), distributed sewing machines and weaving machines, to achieve meaningful socioeconomic development and women empowerment, in Malom area, Imphal West today.
As a part of the endeavour for women empowerment and promoting self sustenance, the Battalion distributed five weaving machines and 10 sewing machines to setup vocational training centre at Malom, said PRO, IGAR.
The project has been undertaken with an aim to provide assistance to the needy women to make them self reliant and provide them with a source of income.
This initiative will improve skill development amongst the women folk and give them independence, along with a source of livelihood, thereby empowering them to lead a dignified life.
The inaugural event witnessed an attendance of over 200 locals of the area.
The handing over ceremony was graced by Shubhra Kabthiyal, Zonal President, ARWWA, 9 Sector Assam Rifles, Sanahambi Devi, Secretary Meira Paibi, Malom Tuliyaima Awang along with gram Pradhans, councillors and Ward members.
The womenfolk were urged to make optimum use of the weaving machines for adequate skill development in addition to women empowerment thereby weaning them away from negative impacts of insurgency.
