Imphal, October 31 2019:
National Federation For New States (NFNS) has expressed concerned about one of its constituent body, the Kuki State Demand Committee (KSDC).
It mentioned that NFNS is closely observing the ongoing Naga peace talk and added that it welcomes the efforts on the part of the Government in bringing about a peaceful solution to the long drawn vexed problem.
However, it stated that looking at the problem that exists between the Naga and the Kuki, a long lasting solution cannot be arrived at without taking into confidence the sentiments of the Kuki people.
The Government must protect the Kuki people, their ethnicity, language, culture and legal rights including their right over the properties held by them in the areas where they are settled and have a legal existence.
They have to be involved in this process as equal stakeholders in the decision making process, it stated.
It further continued that it will appeal the Government of India (GoI) to respond positively to it's request for only then will a lasting peaceful solution be possible.
