Imphal, September 27 2011:
Indo-Myanmar Border Traders' Union (IMBTU) has proposed lifting of essential goods through air cargo service to mitigate the impact of blockade along the
National Highways.
In a statement, publicity and information secretary of the Union Gunamani Konthoujam pointed out that in addition shortage of essential goods, the prices have also sky-rocketed on account of prolonged imposition of economic blockade along the National Highways.
To mitigate the suffering of the people at least to some extent, the Government should arrange lifting of essential goods by air cargo service.
The Union has also reiterated its appeal to the Government of Manipur for allowing import of goods from Myanmar to Manipur through border trade.
