One remanded for arson

Imphal, August 21 2021: The Judicial Magistrate First Class Imphal East has remanded one Md Munir alias Addy (39), s/o (late) Md Ibotombi alias Wajid Ali of Yairipok Tulihal Awang Leikai to 5 days police custody for allegedly setting fire to bikes and the residence of a complainant on August 17 at around 2.20 am.

The complainant Md Kamal Hassan (22), s/o Sirajuddin of the same locality had filed a complaint against the accused that his two bikes parked on the porch, property of the local club and part of his house were burnt down by the accused on the night of August 17 and the fire had destroyed property worth Rs 30 lakh.

The accused was arrested by the police on August 19 from Porompat area and had admitted to the charges levelled against him.
