Imphal, December 19 2021: The Federation of Haomee has urged the State Government to update the State's National Register of Citizens before tabling the much debated Autonomous District Coun-cils (ADC) Bill 2021 and deport undocumented immigrants to their respective countries.

In a statement, the federation reminded that Union Home Minister Amit Shah had announced on November 20, 2019 on the floor of the Parliament to update the NRC all across the country.

Claiming that that function of ADCs as mentioned in Chapter III of the ADC Bill which reads "Establishment and recognition of new villages within the respective Autonomous District with concurrence of the Hill Areas Committee" will help migrants to reside in Manipur, the statement urged the State Government to update the NRC before tabling the ADC Bill at the State Assembly.
