Rescued 'Hog Deer' released safely

Imphal, May 19 2022:
Two fish farmers, Huirem Inaocha of Leirenkabi and Ningombam Ratan Singh currently residing at Samushang Yaangoi Khongban handed a female Hog Deer to Range I, Range Officer of Keibul Lamjao National Park, N Birachandra Singh today.

As per a statement by N Birachandra Singh, the Hog Deer which is listed as an endangered species under Schedule I of Indian Wildlife (Protection) Act.
The female Hog Deer which was handed today was later released safely at the Rescue Centre of Keibul Lamjao National Park under the supervision of DCF Sanajaoba Khuraijam (IFS), added the statement.
The RO also lauded H Inaocha and N Ratan Singh for their noble gesture of rescuing the wild female Hog Deer.
