Plastic wastes debut in road construction

Imphal, January 17 2020: For the first time in Manipur, plastic wastes have been utilised successfully in road construction on trial basis under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) at Ukhrul district.

The trial was conducted on Wednesday, January 15, by a team led by RED/MSRRDA Chief Engineer Th Nadakishore, at Maichon village, along Hoomi-Tora road of Ukhrul district, under package number MN09210 of PMGSY Batch - I .

The technology, known as Open Graded Premix Carpet, utilises plastic for laying road layers which are upto 20 mm thick.
