Jiri, June 16 2021: All Jiribam Road Transport Driver Union (AJRTDU) has denounced the alleged charge of Rs 2,000 (Rs Two thousand) as Godown Tax and collection of Rs 500 as gate pass from drivers plying on Imphal -Jiribam road since the past two months (approx) by unknown individuals/ group.

Speaking to media persons, AJRTDU president, M Tombabu said that the State Government and Godown contractors concerned should take responsibility as hard earned money of the drivers have been collected as Godown Tax and gate pass by unknown persons.

If no solution is brought by the Government and contractors concerned by the time the next train arrives, unloading of goods will be banned, he added.

It is reported that irate drivers carrying FCI rice halted loading goods for a brief period from FCI godown.
