Army launches rescue operation

Imphal, April 15 2018:
Tamei Battalion under the aegis of Senapati Brigade, Red Shield Division rescued 10 civilian today when a passenger vehicle, Force Cruiser bearing registration number AS-11-3C-0735 lost control near village Awangkhul along Imphal-Jiribam highway and fell down a gorge approximately 100 feet on April 13.According to a press release issued by PIB Defence Wing, altogether 12 people (11 gents and one lady) were traveling from Silcher towards Imphal.
The unfortunate incident took place at 12.30pm.On receiving the information, Tamei Battalion post at Awangkhul village came into swift action and launched a joint rescue operation with representatives of Noney police station.
On reaching the spot of incident, security forces quickly came into action and commenced the rescue operation.
Out of 12 victims, two passengers died on the spot while the remaining 10 passengers were evacuated and provided first aid.
Four passengers were seriously injured and rushed to Imphal for further medical attention and the remaining six passengers were taken to Noney for medical aid.
