Free cataract operation continues

Imphal, August 09, 2013: In continuation to the blindness control programme under the project 'Netra Jyoti' of its Corporate Social Responsibility-Community Development (CSR-CD) Scheme, Loktak Power Station, NHPC Ltd has started conducting free cataract operations in collaboration with Shija Hospitals and Research Institute (SHRI), Imphal.

According to a press release issued by Dr KK Singh, Sr DCMO of Medical Dept Loktak Hydel Power Station, the sixth batch of free cataract operation was held on August 8 at SHRI and 8 cataract cases were operated successfully.

Free medicine, subsidised cost of operation with foldable IOL, transportation and fooding for the patients were provided by NHPC Ltd.

Free spectacles will be distributed to the cataract operated cases.

So far 43 cataract cases have been operated successfully in six batches during the current financial year, it stated.
