Imphal, September 05 2014 :
Manipur University Scheduled Caste Students' Welfare Association (MUSCSWA), has demanded MU authority to clarify the distribution of seats before conducting admission tests to MA/MSc/M.Com/MLIS/MCA (First Semester) courses for the academic session 2014-15 .
Based on the principal act 'the Central Educational Institutions (Reservation in Admission) Act.
2006,' thereafter called as the 'Central Educational Institutions (Reservation in Admission) Amendment Act.
2012' defined clearly in Section 3 of the Amendment Act that the seats reserved for SC would not be less than 15 per cent.
This has, however, totally contradicted the seats distributed by Manipur University.
MU has granted merely 2 per cent, accepted by the High Court in their PIL no.18 of 2014 with W.P.(C) no.644 of 2014, seats to the Scheduled Caste.
Any unwanted incident, a press statement issued by the association's General secretary stated, happening during the admission tests would be held responsible by the concerned departments and the University authority.
