Imphal, April 03 2013: After receiving information of desertion of a cadre belonging to USRA with arms and ammunition from Chongkhajao designate SoO camp on March 31, 2013, multidirectional search operations were launched in general areas of Phailan and Saigum to apprehend the deserter with weapons, informed a PIB (DW) release adding that the effort led to recovery of one AK-56 Rifle with magazine, one G-3 Rifle with two magazines, two Italian made pistols and 37 live rounds from a Jhoom hut on April 1 .

The cadre had abandoned the weapon due to sustained search operations launched by the security forces, thus averting a major fire fight in civil areas, maintained the release.
