Imphal, June 29 2016: Sit-in protest has been staged to demand renovation of two and a half kilometre long Phayeng Mayai Leikai road for the third consecutive day today.

The sit-in spearheaded by Chakpa Phayeng Semgatpa Lup has been staged at Phayeng Awang Leikai Bus Waiting shed.

The protesters alleged that the road has been left neglected even as its renovation has been included thrice in the work programme of Manipur State Rural Road Development Agency (MSRRDA).

Speaking to reporters at the protest site, president of Phayeng Apunba Nupi Lup, Angom Tomaleima said that the two and half kilometre long road renovation has been included in the work programme under phase VIII, phase IX and phase X of the PMGSY.

However, the road has not been repaired till date.

The protesters have warned of launching intense forms of agitation unless their demand is met within July 1 .
