Jiribam, May 20 2021: Desam Jiri District Council president, Laishram Bilaks Meitei in a statement expressed his anguish over the silence of the State Government regarding the demand of the council to equip Jiribam District Hospital with ICU, ventilators and OT.

Laishram Bilaks stated that the only District Hospital in Jiribam is still without the proper equipment to tackle the increasing number of COVID-19 infections in the second wave.

He also mentioned that patients in need of ICU facilities have been referred to the neighbouring State Assam and with the increasing trend of COVID-19 infection, the lack of proper facilities will result in the death of COVID-19 patients.

Laishram Bilaks further appealed to the State Government to look into the matter at the earliest for the welfare of the people of Jiribam.
