Imphal, May 14 2013: Refuting the allegation against him, Chief of Joujangtek, Henkhopao urged Longsai VA chairman not to go to the press without any prove to tarnish the image of him and instead he should communicate or discuss the matter with Joujangtek VA if he really loves peace.

It must be that the Longsai villagers destroyed the small hut which they built on the border of the two villages and claim Rs 15 lakh for that small hut in the hope that they might be exempted from paying compensation to the farms they destroyed on August 21, 2012, a statement issued by Henkhopao said.

He said that properties and crops worth Rs 15 lakh was destroyed by the Longsai villagers Poujanglung in Aug 21 last year.

Maintaining that he assumed chiefship of Joujangtek in 2008 and not 2006-07 as pointed out by Poujanglung, Henkhopao said the dispute between the two villages started before he assumed chiefship.

He said the hostility between the two villages ceased after he became a chief, while adding that enmity between the two resurfaced when Longsai villagers attacked the farms of Joujangtek last year.
