Thoubal, March 11 2015: District Health Society, Thoubal under the aegis of Rastriya Kishor Swatha Karakram (RKSK) conducted a one-day training programme on 'weekly iron folic acid supplementation for adolescents (WIFS) and National Iron Plus Initiative (NIPI)' for nodal teachers today at Thoubal DC office, our correspondent reports.

The opening session of the training programme was attended by District Health Society, Thoubal chairman and Deputy Commissioner T Ranjit Singh, IAS, District Health Society, Thoubal member secretary and District Family Welfare officer Dr N Jayantakumar Singh and Thoubal zone III ZEO Kh Amuba Singh as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.

T Ranjit, during his speech at the opening session, said the training programme has been organised with an aim to create awareness on effective ways to prevent iron deficiency diseases.

Similar training programme, he added, would be conducted at 420 different schools under Thoubal block and 180 under Kakching block.

A total of 60 teachers, including headmasters, took part in the one-day training programme held today.
