Imphal, July 05 2014 :
A Krishi Karman awardee farmer has levelled serious allegation of favouritism in the selection of this year's winners for the rice crop competition organised by the Directorate of Agriculture.
Speaking at a press conference held at Manipur Press Club, progressive farmer Ashem Priyokumar expressed wonder in slipping his name to the third position in the competition.
Hailing from Wangoo Sandangkhong in Bishnupur district, Priyokumar had won Krishi Karman award at the National level for producing largest quantity of paddy and his relentless effort to enhance production in the State.
Taking a dig at the management of the Agriculture Department, Priyokumar cautioned that he would return his Krishi Karman award to the President if the authority concerned fails to look into the goof-up at the earliest.
Priyokumar lamented that adjudging his name as the third prize winner in the State level competition was not an honour or encouragement to his hard work but an insult.
